John S. Grant III
Senior Counsel

With four decades of legal knowledge and experience, John S. Grant III is Senior Counsel for the Shows Law Firm PLLC and is a mediator certified through the National Judicial College at the University of Nevada and with the Supreme Court of the State of Mississippi.
John was a practicing trial attorney for 16 years prior to being elected in 1994 as Chancery Court Judge for the 20th Chancery Court District in Rankin County, Mississippi. He was elected to six consecutive terms in this position for a total of 24 years of public service until his retirement from the bench in December 2018. From 2007 through 2018, he was Senior Chancellor for the District. John is a former Chairman of the Mississippi Conference of Chancery Court Judges, and he is a noted speaker for Continuing Legal Education Seminars for lawyers throughout the State.
Having presided over thousands of cases, John is widely recognized for his expertise in family law, wills and estates litigation, equitable distribution of marital property, contract and land disputes, and evaluation of claims in civil actions.
John graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University in 1973 and received his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 1978. He is admitted to practice in all Mississippi State Courts and the United States District Court of the Southern District of Mississippi.
